From Climate Risk to Data Protection: GILC Risk Radar 2026 Reveals Key Insurance Trends
Date
27.8.2026
Global Insurance Law Connect has published the eighth edition of its annual Risk Radar report, bringing together insights from 28 jurisdictions on the legal, regulatory and market developments shaping the insurance sector in 2026.
In the Finland chapter, Justus K Attorneys highlights three developments that are expected to have a significant impact on insurers. Finland is currently undertaking major reforms to both arbitration and court procedures, aimed at making the resolution of commercial disputes more efficient and predictable. At the same time, recent case law and ongoing legislative reform are providing greater clarity around insurers’ ability to process health data in underwriting and claims handling. The report also notes that climate risk modelling is becoming increasingly embedded in underwriting, solvency assessments and claims modelling, as insurers move from high-level ESG reporting towards practical climate risk integration.
Insights for the Finland section are provided by Justus Könkkölä, Partner at JUSTUS K Attorneys
